Clough's Aven to The Nice Way[edit | edit source]
Clough's Aven starts as a 9m pitch out of Clough's Passage.
- 12m rope rigged to two spikes. Rope in situ (June 2017).
Above, a dry stooping passage soon reaches a small chamber. [Ahead picks up some water and gradually narrows.] To the right, a crawl over boulders leads to the base of a 7m pitch. The pitch is very narrow: some cavers will prefer to free climb it.
- 10m rope rigged to scaffold bar. Rope in situ (June 2017).
A short crawl soon reaches the next pitch: 6m up a chimney.
- 9m rope; Y-hang from bolt and drilled thread. Rope in situ (June 2017).
The pitch emerges in The Nice Way: the route towards The Surprise is to the left.
