Battle of Britain Chamber[edit | edit source]
Battle of Britain Chamber is a chamber near Showerbath Passage in County Pot. It forms the start of the Manchester Bypass and offers a route to Trident Series.
The Chamber is normally reached from Showerbath Passage, via a walking-size side passage starting on a ledge on the right of the stream, a few metres upstream of The Spout. After about 10m, is a junction. To the left, a crawl leads into Battle of Britain Chamber, a low flat-roofed chamber. A stream flows through the chamber in very wet weather.
[To the left are a couple of small passages, the second of which leads to Poetic Justice.] Ahead and slightly to the right, up slope, leads into a rift. The junction to the left leads after 5m to a 2.5m polished climb up; this is the start of the Manchester Bypass. Alternatively, continuing straight ahead from the junction, under a dubious-looking boulder, leads into a sub-chamber. This chamber contains a rib of rock containing a survey marker; part way up the rib is a crawl into Trident Series. This chamber can also be reached by turning right at the junction 10m from the Showerbath streamway, and then crawling up through a choke.
