The Snake, from Confusion Corner to County Pitch[edit | edit source]

From Confusion Corner, the streamway ascends to the base of a boulder slope. Following the stream to the left enters a narrow meandering passage stream passage, with a few short crawls round corners. After about four minutes, the passage reaches the base of a 2m waterfall. [Ahead, a dry rift continues.] Ascending the waterfall (easiest done by bridging), leads to a cascade up to a junction, with water coming from left and right. The way on is to the left. Small cascades are ascended, and the passage diminishes to a crawl. Immediately, on a left-hand bend, is a junction. [Upstream, to the left, is the original route from Oxford Pot.] Ahead, a dry crawl is entered. This is initially low, but raises to hands and knees crawling. Soon, the crawl breaks out at the top of a boulder slope, descending to a chamber.
